The Cavite-Laguna Expressway project will improve traffic flow by minimising congestion on Governor’s Drive, Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road, and Aguinaldo Highway. It is also expected to reduce the travel time between CAVITEX and SLEX from the current 90 minutes to approximately 45 minutes. It will also provide efficient transportation links for approximately 11 billion people living in the Cavite and Laguna provinces, as well as benefit economic zones within the area. The project consists of two sections, Cavite and Laguna.
The Cavite portion, which is 26.48km-long, will start from Tirona Highway in Kawit municipality in Cavite province and end at Aguinaldo Highway, Silang municipality, in Cavite.
Up to eight grade-separated interchanges will be built along the route in locations including Kawit IC (Cavitex), Silang IC, Governor’s Drive IC, Laguna Boulevard IC, Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay IC, Techno Park IC, Opened Canal Service Road IC, and Silang East IC.
The Cavite–Tagaytay–Batangas Expressway (CTBEx) is a proposed 50.42-kilometre (31.33 mi) expressway that will connect the under-construction Cavite–Laguna Expressway (CALAEx) in the municipality of Silang, Cavite to Ternate–Nasugbu Road in the municipality of Nasugbu, Batangas, which situated as the western terminus of the expressway.
The objective of the new expressway in Calabarzon region is the decongestion of heavy traffic at the main highway of Tagaytay due to tourism developments in Tagaytay–Nasugbu area.
The project was under evaluation until the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) awarded the original proponent status to Metro Pacific Tollways South Corporation (MPT South) on July 2018. The construction is expected to start in the first half of 2019 and would finish by mid-2022. It will have eight major interchanges, two spur roads: Tagaytay and a couple of overpasses
